Capricans are a fictional alien race featured in the Battlestar Galactica television franchise. They were initially presented in the original 1978-1979 Battlestar Galactica television series and comprised most of the main characters from the show. The race was also featured in the Battlestar Galactica comic book series by Marvel Comics as well as its subsequent spin-off media. Capricans were re-imagined for the 2003 Battlestar Galactica miniseries in 2003 as well as the regular TV series that followed in 2004. The culture of the Capricans was illustrated in greater detail in the spin-off program which was aptly named, Caprica.
Description[]
Capricans are humanoids who hail from the colony world known as Caprica. They are one of the Twelve Colonies and bear a biological connection to humans from Earth, suggesting a shared racial lineage. Physically, Capricans are indistinguishable form any other Colony world's citizens or from Earthlings. Although the history and culture of Capricans varies greatly between the two iterations of the show, one trait that is shared by both is a Caprican's love for freedom and their unified hatred of the aggressive Cylons.

- In the remake series, it was generally accepted that the Adama family were all Capricans. However, the pilot episode of Caprica reveals that William Adama's father, Joseph Adama, was actually Tauron, who mated with a Caprica, making William 1/2 Tauron.
