Biography[]

Known only as Canary, this young man enlisted in the United States Army in the early 1940s. He was assigned to the special detachment known as Easy Company where he served as a machine gunner. He was nick-named "Canary" due to his penchant for whistling whenever they were in a combat situation where stealth was not required.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • The character of Canary was created by writer Robert Kanigher and artist Joe Kubert.
  • Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-One era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985-86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
  • Canary made an appearance in the "Cheers to the Tin Man" episode of Creature Commandos in 2024.
