The Camp Verde Apache Reservation was once used to house members of the Apache Nation. John Proudstar grew up here with his younger brother James. When John was a hot-headed young adult, he encountered Professor Charles Xavier, who came out to the reservation and invited him to join the X-Men. Proudstar died on his first mission, and the X-Men had to bring the news to his family. James committed himself to upholding his brother's memory. Later, the area around the reservation was abandoned and it became a veritable ghost town. Years later, the mutant response team known as X-Force utilized a bunker in the Camp Verde desert and operated out of there for some time.
