Calvin College was a city college located in Calvin City, Connecticut. Al Pratt and Mary James both attended school here as students in the 1940s. Al Pratt later became a professor at Calvin College. Al Pratt received a large measure of ribbing from his classmates due to his short stature

- Another fictional college of note located in Connecticut is Ivy University. Al Pratt's heroic successor, Ray Palmer, attended school here and later became a professor at the university as well, as did his own successor, Ryan Choi.
