Notes & Trivia[]

  • The tagline for this film is "Slimy Glob of Doom Engulfs The World!"
  • This movie has been made available on the Tubi streaming service (with commercials).
  • Riccardo Freda would later claim that he abandoned this project so that Mario Bava, who he knew could be a good director, would have a chance to direct. [1]
  • Samples of Caltiki were clearly made of bundles of cloth soaked in water. Tripe was also added to give the creature a sense of texture.
  • In the scene that introduces the character of Ellen Fielding, actress Didi Sullivan's nipples are visible through her blouse.
  • Co-director Mario Bava makes a uncredited cameo appearance as a Mexican at the police station.
  • The narrative states that the radioactive comet that first prompted the spawning of the slime creature passed over the Earth in 607 AD.
  • Caltiki is actually the name of the Mayan goddess, not the slime creature. A statue of Caltiki can be seen in the Mayan ruins. John Fielding at one point refers to the slime monster as Caltiki.
