Callisto is a fictional mutant and a recurring antagonist featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. She is part of the mainstream Marvel Universe and first appeared in the pages of Uncanny X-Men #169 in May, 1983.
Callisto is presented as a thin, unattractive woman with masculine features, dark, choppy hair and a scar across her face. She also wears an eye-patch over her right eye. Her personality is that of a no-nonsense bad-ass, whose loyalty to the Morlocks is matched only by her hatred of humanity.
Biography[]
Callisto was the leader of the Morlocks - a group of mutants, whose physical deformities set them apart from even regular mutants. She maintained the Morlocks' base of operations in a subterranean network of catacombs that she called The Alley.
As the leader of the Morlocks, Callisto fancied herself a princess in need of a prince. To this end, she had her muscular lieutenant, Sunder, capture a mutant member of the superhero team, the X-Men; a person whom she considered to be the "most beautiful man in the world" - Warren Worthington, III, aka, Angel. With the unconscious Angel in her possession, Callisto had him disrobed and pinned by his wings to a golden backdrop atop a platform. She intended this to be the altar for a bizarre unconventional wedding, with herself as the bride. Warren's colleagues in the X-Men managed to track him down and fought up against the Morlocks. At first, Callisto maintained the upper hand, successfully fending off Nightcrawler and incapacitating Storm with her slingshot. [1]
