Cabal is a British horror novella written in 1988 by Clive Barker. It was first published in hardcover edition in the US by Poseidon Press in New York. It was adapted into the 1990 film Nightbreed which was written and directed by Barker and adapted into the first four issues of the Nightbreed comic book series by Marvel Comics. Cabal tells the tale of Aaron Boone, a disturbed young man who dreams of a mythological place called Midian - a place where "monsters can be beautiful". Believing himself to be a vicious serial killer, Boone sets out to find Midian, but soon discovers that the true monsters lurking in the shadows are not the nocturnal creatures living beneath the cemeteries at all, but rather someone quite close to him.
