Bushwick is a neighborhood located in the borough of Brooklyn in New York City, New York. The area was settled by the Dutch West India Company in 1638 and was named Boswijck in 1661. Bushwick was the last of the original six Dutch towns of Brooklyn to be established within New Netherland. It is bound by the neighborhood of Ridgewood, Queens, to the northeast; Williamsburg to the northwest; the cemeteries of Highland Park to the southeast; and Bedford–Stuyvesant to the south and southwest.

During the mid 2010s, the street-level super-hero presence in the city was minimal, which allowed the criminal element to prosper. Daredevil has supposedly gone nuts and Spider-Man was to busy handling more global threats with the Avengers.
Two residents of Bushwick were a pair of street thugs known as Bumps and G-Day. Bumps had drawn some heat due to the recent murder of a police officer, but G-Dey assured him that he would keep him in the clear and get everything sorted out. When they returned to their flat however, they found the Punisher waiting for them. When the Punisher told them that one of them had graduated to "cop killer", they quickly turned on each other. Bumps reached for a .357 Magnum, but the Punisher grabbed his hand and broke his wrist. He then made G-Dey pick up the gun and shoot his cohort in the head. He then made G-Dey place a sign around his neck and stand next to the window. The Punisher shot him through the window and his body landed on top of a car. Onlookers on the scene took note of the stylized "I'm back" message on the sign bearing the Punisher's trademark death's head symbol. [1]
