Biography[]
The Broker, whose real name is unknown, was a non-human Xandarians who lived on the planet Xandar in the Andromeda Galaxy. He ran a small shop where he bought and sold items of great value. Space pirate Peter Quill acquired a powerful orb, little realizing that it contained the Power Gem - one of six artifacts that comprise the Infinity Stones. He brought it to the Broker's shop for sale, but accidentally name-dropped Ronan the Accuser, revealing Ronan's interest in the item. Knowing that Ronan openly opposed the treaty between Xander and the Kree Empire, the Broker literally wiped his hands of the matter, handing the orb back to Peter, telling him that he wanted nothing to do with anything involving Ronan.
A short time later, Peter Quill's former partner, Yondu Udonta - leader of the Ravagers, came to the Broker's shop looking for Quill. The Broker wouldn't divulge any information, claiming client confidentiality, after which, Yondu mocked him with gibberish speak, and then threatened to do him bodily harm with one of his Yaka arrows. The Broker told him that Peter Quill could be found on the planetoid known as Knowhere. [1]
Some time later, the Guardians of the Galaxy acquired another powerful artifact, the Cosmic Seed. They brought it to the Broker's shop so they could have it appraised. [2]
