Points of Interest[]
- Boonta Scrapyard
- The Boonta Scrapyard was literally a wasteland of junk that spread across a barren section of the planet Boonta. The entire landscape was littered with broken droid components and pieces from wrecked starships.
History[]
Around the year 15 BBY, the starrunner-class vessel, the Sand Sloth exited hyperspace in Boonta's atmosphere and crash-landed on the planet. Its occupants included the captain Kea Moll and landspeeder racers Jord Dusat and Thall Joben as well as their droid assistants C-3PO and R2-D2.
The group encountered a resident of the scrapyard, which was an old repurposed droid named Proto-One. C-3PO did not put much stock in this droid, and expressed his mistrust of him. However, Proto-One proved to be quite useful as he led the group out of the scrapyard and brought them to a mechanical facility closer to town.
The Boonta Speeder Race[]
The Boonta Speeder Race is a vehicular sporting event held on the planet Boonta. It involves individual pilots and their landspeeders racing in a ten-lap course through various terrain as well as specially designed obstacles.
Thall Joben, Kea Moll and Jord Dusat, along with their droids C-3PO and R2-D2 journeyed to Boonta so that Thall could compete in the race with the White Witch. The journey to Boonta was fraught with peril as they were being pursued by the Fromm Gang and also had to deal with a traitorous droid named BL-17.
The Fromms had made themselves a deal with bounty hunter Boba Fett, who agreed to take out Thall in exchange for clearing a prior debt. Fett entered the race as a late contestant with his own vehicle the Silver Speeder. BL-17 had already attempted to sabotage the White Witch by planting a thermal detonator into it. The scheme backfired however as the detonator exploded too close to Fett's own vessel, destroying it. At this point, Boba Fett turned against his one-time colleagues and captured the Fromms with the intent of delivering them to Jabba the Hutt.
As a result, Thall Joben won the race. One of the spectators, Zebulon Dak, was so impressed that he offered Thall, Joben and Thea jobs as builders and designers at his company, the Zebulon Dak Speeder Corporation.
