History[]
The Book of the Skull was a mystical text crafted and written by occultists and cult members associated with the Thule Society. Out of some notion of appeasing dark elder gods, the cover of the book was made from the skin of dead Atlanteans, who had been captured and sacrificed.
In February, 1942, the Nazi commander The Red Skull ordered the Thule Society to conduct a ritual using the book that would summon forth someone or something of great power - something that would enable the Red Skull to achieve total victory against the Allies. Using a spell from the book, the Tule Society were able to draw forth an Asgardian artifact known as the Hammer of Skadi.
Decades later, Sinthea Shmidt - daughter of the Red Skull journeyed to the hidden underground compound in the Egyptian desert, along with Baron Zemo, and discovered the Book of the Skull. Taking it into her arms, she laid claim to the tome, stating that it was her destiny to find it. [1]
