The Blob is an American horror film directed by Chuck Russell. It is a remake of the origina The Blob monster movie released in 1958 and directed by Irvin S. Yeaworth. The remake was produced by TriStar Pictures and released theatrically in the United States on August 5th, 1988. This film holds a noticeably darker tenor than the campy 1950s version and features Kevin Dillon as Brian Flagg, the rough-and-tumble biker who finds himself in the unexpected role of hero trying to save a girl named Meg Penny from a dangerous, mutating slime monster that is slowly consuming their sleepy, little town.
