"The Threat from the Abyss!" is the first story featured in issue #108 of the Blackhawk ongoing comic book series published by DC Comics. The story was written by Robert Bernstein with artwork by Dick Dillin and inks by Chuck Cuidera. It was lettered by Sam Rosen. The second story is called "Killer Shark's Secret Weapon" and is illustrated by Dick Dillin and Chuck Cuidera. The third feature is "The Mutiny of the Red Sailors" by Bernstein, Dillin & Cuidera. All stories were edited by Jack Schiff with Murray Boltinoff and George Kashdan as associate editors. This issue shipped with a January, 1957 cover date and carries a cover price of .10 cents per copy.

- Blackhawk, and all related characters and concepts were created by writer Will Eisner and artist Chuck Cuidera. They first appeared in Military Comics #1 in August, 1941, published by Quality Comics. They later spun-out into their first Blackhawk ongoing series, which ran from 1944 to 1956, spanning a total of 107 issues. DC Comics acquired the rights to continue publication of Blackhawk stories without interruption and began producing the title with Blackhawk #108 in January, 1957.
- This is the first issue of Blackhawk published by DC Comics. DC acquired the rights to the characters from Quality Comics and has continued the numbering sequence.
- This issue carries the approval stamp of the Comics Code Authority.
- This issue shipped to retailers on November 4th, 1956.
