Jefferson Pierce is a fictional comic book superhero who goes by the code name of Black Lightning. He is the main character in his own line of titles published by DC Comics and was introduced in the first issue of his own ongoing Black Lightning comic book series in April, 1977. He also headlined a second Black Lightning title, which ran for thirteen issues from 1995 to 1996 as well as a Black Lightning: Year One six-issue limited series in 2009 and the Black Lightning: Cold Dead Hands series in 2018. The character was adapted into a live-action Black Lightning television series in 2018, which aired on the CW Network. He was played by actor Cress Williams in the series. Jefferson Pierce worked as a principal at Garfield High School in Suicide Slum in Metropolis. When a criminal cartel called The 100 murdered one his students, Pierce decided to fight back. Black Lightning is an American television program of the superhero fantasy genre. It is based on the character of Jefferson Pierce, aka Black Lightning, as seen in comic book titles published by DC Comics. The series was produced by DC Entertainment, Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television. It began airing on the CW Network on January 16th, 2018. A total of thirteen episodes was ordered for season one. The series stars Cress Williams as the main character, Jefferson Pierce. Co-starring in the show is China Anne McClain & Nafessa Williams as his daughters, Jennifer and Anissa Pierce, Christine Adams as his ex-wife, Lynn Pierce, Marvin "Krondon" Jones, III as the show's main antagonist, Tobias Whale, Damon Gupton as Inspector Henderson, and James Remar as tailor Peter Gambi. |
