Biro is a fictional child and a minor character featured in the Masters of the Universe multimedia franchise. He is associated with the 1983 He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon series and made a single appearance in the twenty-sixth episode of season two, "Jacob and the Widgets". He was voiced by Lou Scheimer under the pseudonym of Erik Gunden.
Biography[]
Biro was a young child and a male member of the gnome-like Widgets race from the planet Eternia. He lived in the areas surrounding Widget Woods. Biro was abducted by Mer-Man, who forced him into revealing the location of his people's Coridite deposits. He further warned him that he would reveal that Biro volunteered the information if she should attempt to warn anyone of his plans.
Eternian champion Teela ventured into the Widget Mines to rescue Biro, who told her and the others that the Coridite crystals were still safe. Later, Biro made sand castles with He-Man, but their fun was disrupted when Teela went running past, scattering sand everywhere.
Appearance[]
- Unlike other members of his race, Biro had human-looking ears as opposed to the slightly pointed ears of adult Widgets. Perhaps this is an aspect of Widget growth development in that their ears do not become pointed until adulthood.
Notes & Trivia[]
- The Masters of the Universe, He-Man, and all related media were created by the Mattel corporation as part of a toy line in 1983. The concepts were later adapted into comic books and the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe multimedia franchise, which includes a 1983 animated television series, a 1987 live-action feature film, and a 2002 animated television series.
- The character of Biro was created by director Ed Friedman and writer Harvey Brenner.
