Bill Pullman is an American actor born in Hornell, New York on December 17th, 1953. His first work in the science fiction genre was in the 1987Mel Brooks comedy Spaceballs, where he played heroic figure Lone Starr. In 1990, he appeared in the sci-fi/horror film Brain Dead as Doctor Rex Martin. Pullman's largest sci-fi role to date was in 1996, when he played the excedingly pro-active US president Thomas J. Whitmore in the blockbuster film Independence Day. Clips of Whitmore's dialogue were incorporated into the Independence Day video game in 1997. In 2011, Pullman was cast to play Oswald Danes in Torchwood: Miracle Day.
