Biography[]

Bill Bowery was a championship boxer residing in Coast City, California. One afternoon, Bill stopped at a restaurant to get something to eat. The locals immediately recognized him and began clamoring over him. One patron however, was not impressed by Bowery's presence. This was the evolved human-shark man known as The Shark. While sitting at a table, the Shark intentionally nudged Bowery as he was passing by. Upset by the apparent rudeness, Bowery stood fast ready to confront the odd-looking guest. The Shark stood up, but instead of engaging Bowery physically, he instead used his mental powers to render him insensate. The restaurant patrons were aghast at the fact that his man laid Bowery out without ever throwing a single punch. [1]

Notes & Trivia[]

  • Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-One era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985-86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
  • Although it was never established whether or not Hal Jordan was aware of Bill Bowery, it is well known that both Oliver Queen and he loved boxing (hence Hal's constant use of a giant boxing glove energy construct). It is likely that Hal may have attended one of Bill Bowery's fights.
