The Becker residence is a fictional location featured in the Scream film series. It first appeared in the 1996 feature film Scream, directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson.

Description[]

The Becker residence was a large two-story home located in the city of Woodsboro in the U.S. state of California. It was located some distance away from main residential areas and was situated on a hill overlooking what appears to be a tree farm. It was the home of the Becker family, which consisted of Mister and Mrs. Becker (given names unknown), and their teenage daughter, Casey Becker.

History[]

In the year 1996, Casey had invited her boyfriend Steven Orth over to her house to eat popcorn and watch a scary movie. As Steve was arriving, he was assaulted by Billy Loomis and Stu Macher, who left him bound and gagged on the back patio. Billy then telephoned Casey Becker from outside, using a voice-changer to disguise his voice.

When Casey answered the phone, she had just prepped the VCR in the living room to play a movie. She moved into the kitchen, which like the living room, had entirely white walls. She prepared popcorn on a black range stove-top and initially believed that the person calling her had dialed a wrong number. The individual called back several more times, and Casey remained patient and polite, even engaging in small talk with the caller as she fiddled with a knife in the kitchen. The calls quickly became more aggressive, and it became clear that the caller had malefic intent.

The caller revealed that he had captured her boyfriend, Steve, and had him bound on the patio. He threatened to kill Steve unless she agreed to play a trivia game with him. Panic-stricken, Casey unplugged the lights from a wall-socket, but she missed a question relating to the movie Friday the 13th. At which point, the killer gutted Steve Orth.

The masked & robed "Ghostface" killer broke into the house and gave chase. Casey ran outside around the side of the house, but the killer caught up with her. He stabbed her in the chest, then finished her off by strangling her. He suspended Casey's body from a tree in the backyard.

At this point, Casey's parents were returning home. As they moved through the house, the noticed smoke from the over-cooked popcorn. They went outside where they found Casey's body hanging from the tree.

Points of Interest[]

Patio
The Patio faced the anterior of the house and led to a large heated inground pool. There were two white-trimmed double doors leading out to the patio from the kitchen. A switch from inside the house turned on the patio lights. This was where Ghostface staged Steve Orth who was bound and gagged. After tormenting Casey Becker with a telephone game, he eviscerated Steve with a hunting knife.
