"Maelstrom" is the seventeenth episode of season three of the 2003 relaunch of the science fiction drama series Battlestar Galactica and the fiftieth episode of the series overall. Combining the totals of all Battlestar Galactica projects combined, including the original 1978 TV show, Galactica 1980 and the two-part 2003 miniseries that launched the current program, it is the eighty-fourth episode of the franchise in total. It was directed by Michael Nankin with a script written by Bradley Thompson and David Weddle. It first aired on Syfy on March 4th, 2007.
