"Kobol's Last Gleaming" is the twelvth episode of season one the of the Battlestar Galactica revival series. It was directed by Michael Rymer and written by Ronald D. Moore based on a story treatment by David Eick. It was first broadcast in the UK on January 17th, 2005 on Sky One. It premiered in the United States on Friday, March 25th, 2005 on Syfy. In this episode, Vice President Baltar beds Kara Thrace, but their loveplay leads to great tension between Kara and Lee Adama. Sharon Valerii attempts to take her own life and President Roslin's illness continues to worsen. Commander Adama receives evidence suggesting that the planet they have found may in fact be Kobol. He sends a recon team to the surface to determine if it would be a suitable environment to establish a colony. President Roslin wants Kara Thrace to return to Cylon-occupied Caprica to retrieve a mythological relic known as the Arrow of Apollo, which she believs will yield secrets to relating to the Lords of Kobol. Meanwhile on Caprica, Helo continues to evade the Cylons. He runs into the Cylon Valerii and shoots her.
