History[]
The Battle of Jakku was one of the final battles of the Galactic Civil War between the forces of the leaderless First Galactic Empire and the triumphant Alliance to Restore the Republic. Following the deaths of Imperial leaders Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader aboard the Death Star II, the remaining vestiges of the Imperial fleet made several last ditch efforts to secure the Empire. One such battle took place over the Inner Rim world of Jakku.
Three decades after the battle ended, wreckage from various ships and land vessels, as well as other debris were scattered across the desert wastelands. These became prime pickings for thieves and scavengers who set up the Niima Outpost, which was run by the Crolute known as Unkar Plutt. Amongst the scattered remnants of this battle was a downed Imperial Star Destroyer, a fallen AT-AT, which a young woman named Rey took to using as her private abode, and numerous destroyed starfighters, including TIE fighters.
