- Production on Battle: Los Angeles began in September of 2009 and concluded on December 11th, 2009.
- The film was inspired by the Battle of Los Angeles, a suspected air raid in the city of Los Angeles, which allegedly occurred in February, 1942, three months after the United States entered World War II.
- First sci-fi film work for director Jonathan Liebesman. Liebesman also directed the 2003 horror film Darkness Falls and the 2006 prequel film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.
- Actor Aaron Eckhart broke his upper arm during shooting of the film, but was able to complete his scenes without the use of a cast.
- Actor Jim Parrack is also known for playing the role of Hoyt Fortenberry on the HBO supernatural drama series True Blood.
