- This issue carries the approval stamp of the Comics Code Authority.
- This is the third chapter in the "A Death in the Family" storyline.
- The conclusion of this storyline came about as a result of a call-in readers' poll. Advertisements in previous DC Comics issues placed Jason Todd's fate in the hands of the readers, who could call a telephone number and vote as to whether Robin would live or die. Ultimately, readers' choice determined that Jason Todd would die, which is what happens in this issue.
- The alternate ending to this story was printed in Batman Annual #25 in 2006, which saw the canonical return of Jason Todd.
- In this issue, the Joker becomes the Iranian ambassador to the United Nations. Only in comic books, folks. Only in comics.
- Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini, or Ayatollah Khomenini, was the actual Supreme Leader of Iran from February, 1979 until his death in June, 1989.
