- Batman was created by comic book writer Bill Finger and graphic artist Bob Kane. He first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in May, 1939. He received his first ongoing series, Batman, in the Spring, 1940 beginning with Batman #1.
- This issue shipped to retailers on October 10th, 1989.
- This issue is reprinted in the Batman: Shaman trade paperback collection, which was released in February, 1993.
- This issue shipped with a turquoise blue overlay colors. This issue went to second, third and fourth printings, with each version boasting a different background color; pink, orange, and yellow, respectively.
