Barbara Smith was a minor character featured in the Star Trek franchise. Played by actress Andrea Dromm, she appeared in the second pilot episode of the original Star Trek television series, "Where No Man Has Gone Before".
Biography[]
Barbara Smith was a non-comissioned officer for the Federation Starfleet serving aboard the USS Enterprise under the rank of Yeoman. She succeeded Yeoman J.M. Colt and was the first Yeoman to serve under Captain James T. Kirk.
Kirk had difficulty remembering her name however and called her Miss Jones. Yeoman Smith seemd to share an attraction with the Enterprise 's First Officer, Lieutenant Commander Gary Mitchell. When the Enterprise encountered a magnetic space storm in 2265, Commander Mitchell was very protective of Yeoman Smith, using his hands to shield her from any dangerous activity taking place aboard the bridge.
