Bag of Bones is an American novel of the mystery and suspense genres. It was written by Stephen King and first published by Scribner in hardcover edition in September, 1998.
The book features the character of Mike Noonan, who is a writer suffering from writers' block as the result of the death of his wife, Joanna, which took place several years earlier. Mike has a dream, which inspires him to retreat to a lakeside house in western Maine.
Shortly after arriving, Noonan is caught in the middle of a custody battle involving the daughter of an attractive young widow and the child's enormously wealthy grandfather. Noonan discovers that the lakehouse is haunted and that the ghost of his late wife still has something to impart to him.
