Babylon 5: The Legend of the Rangers is an American made-for-TV movie of the science fiction genre. It is the sixth film in the series and is based on the Babylon 5 television series created by J. Michael Straczynski. This film is preceded by Babylon 5: A Call to Arms and is the final regular film in the series. However, it is succeeded by the Babylon 5: The Lost Tales TV special in 2007. The film was directed by Michael Vejar and written by J. Michael Straczynski. It was produced by Babylonian Productions and first aired on the Sci-Fi Channel (now Syfy) on January 19th, 2002. The film was intended to serve as a pilot episode for a spin-off series, but due to low ratings, the spin-off project never materialized.
The Legend of the Rangers stars Dylan Neal as David Martell - a disgraced Ranger who finds himself inheriting an age-old fighter ship called the Liandra. The ship itself is a veteran of two wars and is haunted by the ghosts of its former crew. While escorting Narn diplomat G'Kar to an interstellar conference, Martell finds himself as the first and last line of defense between the Interstellar Alliance and a new yet ancient alien threat.
