Austin is a city and the capital of the U.S. state of Texas. It is located in the central region of the state with an area of 296.2 sq mi (767.28 km2) at an elevation of 489 ft. it is the fourth-largest city in Texas and the fifteenth most populous city in the United States.
Austin is the place of birth of Tobe Hooper, known best for directing the 1974 horror film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Hooper's contributions to the science fiction genre include the 1985 sci-fi movie Lifeforce and the 1986 remake of Invaders from Mars.
The 1998 alien possession film The Faculty was shot in Austin, Texas as well as the 2006 animated film A Scanner Darkly.
