The auger module is a fictional vehicle featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. It is associated with the Avengers line of titles and first appeared in Avengers #267 in May, 1986.
History[]
The auger module was a piloted drilling machine utilized by the Avengers. Team member Dane Whitman drove it as part of a project to burrow a tunnel beneath the second sub-basement below Avengers Mansion to Hydrobase. The plan was to incline beneath the East River an connect with an old abandoned A.I.M. tunnel, creating a one-way path between the mansion and Hydrobase. [1]
After Dane and two other Avengers disappeared into a Temporal Limbo, Captain America, Captain Marvel and Sub-Mariner began investigating the tunnels. Namor noted that the energy-sensor core in the module had suffered from a power overload. Captain America asked him to haul it back to the electronics lab. Once there, they found that the sensor-core's memory had been scrambled by a chronal displacement wave.[2]
