- The character of Ray Palmer was created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Gil Kane. He first appeared in Showcase #34 in September-October, 1961 in a story called "Birth of the Atom!".
- This issue carries the approval stamp of the Comics Code Authority.

- This issue includes a public service message comic strip featuring Superboy in "Happy Hobby Time!" It is published in cooperation with the National Social Welfare Assembly.
