Ashy Slashy is a phrase utilized in the Ash vs Evil Dead television series. Originally it was a nickname attributed to Ash Williams by the people of his home town of Elk Grove, Michigan. Originally, the citizens of Elk Grove began calling him this because they believed that he was responsible for the gruesome deaths of his girlfriend and friends down a weekend retreat to Knowby cabin thirty years earlier. In truth, Ash was as much a victim as his friend were, who had all been killed by the disembodied Kandarian spirits known as Deadites.
Later, the Deadite lord known as Baal had captured Ash and trapped him inside of a mental health facility where he was trying to brainwash him. Baal assumed the human guise of Doctor Peacock and created a puppet in Ash's likeness, which came to be known as "Ashy Slashy". Ashy was intended as a tool used to break Ash's will, but Ash actually befriended the foul-mouthed puppet.
After Baal believed that he had successfully turned Ash into his own personal agent, Ashy Slashy was cast by the wayside. Ash's ally, Kelly Maxwell found Ashy Slashy in Ash's room and the two ended up fighting. Kelly proved victorious however and blasted Ashy's head off with a handgun.
