Allusions[]

  • The title of this episode is taken from the rock and roll song "Twist and Shout". It was recorded in 1961 by The Top Notes, and has been covered by many performers over the years. The best known versions were performed by the Isley Brothers in 1962 and by The Beatles in 1963.
  • Ash Williams tells Brandy Barr that this isn't the time to playing "Barbie Dress-Up". Barbie is a fashion doll manufactured by the American toy company Mattel, Inc. and launched in March 1959. American businesswoman Ruth Handler is credited with the creation of the doll using a German doll called Bild Lilli as her inspiration.
  • Ash quotes the line, "Ding Dong, the Witch is dead", which is a lyric from a song taken from the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz.

Quotes[]

  • Ruby Knowby: Welcome to me, my son. The new prophecied one.

....

....

  • Ruby Knowby: Hundreds of year spent looking for that book... and two years in this shit-hole of a school! No one is that stupid... or that lucky.
  • Ash Williams: Maybe not, but you're next, Ruby.
