'"Pilot" is the premiere episode of the superhero fantasy series Arrow. The episode was directed by David Nutter and written by Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim based on a story treatment by Guggenheim and Greg Berlanti. It first aired on the CW Network on Wednesday, October 10th, 2012.
The premise of the series involves a billionaire playboy named Oliver Queen, who returns to his home town of Starling City after having been missing on a not-so-deserted island for five years. His time on the island has emboldened him with a sense of purpose and he seeks to clean up the criminal enterprises of Starling City with a hood, a bow and arrow, and a silent anger against those who have "failed the city".
The series stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, Colin Donnell as Tommy Merlin, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance.
