Army of Darkness is an American feature film of the adventure, horror, and comedy genres. It is the third installment in the Evil Dead film series]] and follows the events of the 1987 movie Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn. The film was directed by Sam Raimi with a script written by Sam & Ivan Raimi. It was produced by the De Laurentiis Entertainment Group and distributed through Universal Pictures. The movie premiered theatrically in the United States on October 9th, 1992. Army of Darkness stars Bruce Campbell, reprising the role of Ashley Williams from the previous films. Having been cast back in time to the year 1300, Ash must now use his 20th century wits, his trusty chainsaw and a double-barreled boomstick to protect a bunch of primitive yokels from being massacred by the forces of evil.

- Production on Army of Darkness began on May 20th, 1991. Principal filming concluded on August 16th, 1991. The movie was shot entirely in California. Interior sets were filmed in-studio in Hollywood. Exterior scenes were filmed at the Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park in Agua Dulce.
- Army of Darkness (director's cut) premiered at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain on October 9th, 1992. It was later screened at the London Film Festival in November.
- Army of Darkness grossed $4,424,000 over it's opening weekend on February 21st, 1993. It was screened in 1,387 theaters/screens.
