Planet of the Apes[]
Armando is a fictional business owner and a supporting character featured in the Planet of the Apes multimedia franchise. Played by actor Ricardo Montalban, he was introduced in the film Escape from the Planet of the Apes. He also appeared in the film's sequel, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. Armando was the owner of Armando's Marvelous Menagerie Circus, which traveled throughout the circuits in North America from the 1970s through the early 1990s. In 1973, Armando befriended two talking apes from the future, Cornelius and Zira. Zira gave birth to their child, which they named Milo. The parents were brutally murdered, and Armando adopted Milo. Fearing that the authorities would seek to destroy the progeny of two futuristic talking apes, he changed his name to Caesar, and forged documentation for him, showing that he was born a month prior to the arrival of Cornelius and Zira. Armando raised Caesar in secret for more than twenty years. In 1991, they traveled to Modern City to promote the circus. Upon seeing a fellow ape named Aldo being beaten by police officers, Caesar shouted "Lousy human bastards!" Seeking to protect knowledge of Caesar's ability to articulate, Armando confessed towards speaking the slanderous words himself. He turned himself in and was interviewed by Governor Breck and his aides, Hoskyns and Kolp. Armando plead ignorance of any knowledge relating to an intelligent articulating ape. However, when it came time to run his testimony through an authenticator, Armando panicked and tried to escape. In the ensuing struggle with the guards, he was pushed out of a high-rise window and fell to his death.
