Arishem the Judge is a fictional cosmic being and a recurring character featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is part of the mainstream Marvel Universe and first appeared in The Eternals #2 in August, 1976.
Biography[]
Arishem was a member of a race of cosmic beings known as the Celestials. He was a member of the Second Host of Celestial to visit Earth, and deemed it unworthy, after the Celestials were attacked by a race of their own creation - the Deviants. Arishem caused a Great Flood that caused global destruction, sinking the continents of Atlantis and Lemuria.
Arishem was the leader of the Fourth Host, and arrived on Earth after being signaled by the Cosmic beacon. He descended down upon the City of the Space Gods in the Andes Mountains where he kept a silent vigil. It was his design to remain there as such, silently conducting his analysis for the next fifty years, at which point, he would render his judgment as to whether the Earth was worthy of continued existence, or should be wiped out.
