History[]
Apartment 8C was the third apartment on the eighth floor of the Brewster Apartments on North Grand Street in Chicago, Illinois. In the late 1980s, it was occupied by Karen Barclay and her six-year-old son, Andy.
In November, 1988 - Karen bought Andy a bootleg Good Guys doll for his birthday. Karen had to work late that evening however, so her friend Maggie Peterson babysat Andy. What nobody knew at the time was that Andy's doll was possessed by the spirit of a dead serial strangler named Charles Lee Ray, aka "Chucky". Chucky hit Maggie in the head with a hammer, which sent her reeling backwards. She smashed through the apartment bay window and fell to her death.
Before Karen could return home, Chicago police officers were already on the scene, led by homicide Detective Mike Norris. Norris took note of some spilled flour on a countertop, which had small footprints in it. This led him to believe that Andy might have been involved in Maggie's death. Karen, distraught and angry, rushed the police officers and detectives out of her home.
Andy posited that Chucky was responsible for Maggie's "accident", but naturally, nobody believed him. The following day when Karen returned home, she grabbed the doll and tried to force it to talk. The doll spoke, but it was only then that she noted that there were no batteries inside of it. She threatened to throw it into hte fireplace, at which point, Chucky revealed himself and attacked her, biting her on the arm.
A few days later, after engaging in road rage incident with Detective Norris, Chucky returned to Apartment 8C to attack Andy. Chucky's soul was in danger of residing in his doll body forever, so he needed to conduct a ritual to transfer his spirit into Andy's body. As he began the ritual, Karen and Detective Norris came in. Karen trapped Chucky in the fireplace, and Andy lit a match, severely burning the doll.
Chucky was still alive however, and came after Karen and Andy who barricaded themselves in the apartment bedroom. Mike Norris managed to shoot the doll in the chest, seemingly destroying it.

Notes[]
- Very little is known about Andy's father, save that he is deceased. A photograph of a man who might be his father can be seen on the mantle in the apartment. It is unknown if Andy's father was a resident of the apartment as well, or if Karen and Andy moved in after his death.
