Anzhou is a town in Anxin County, Hebei, China. It is not far from Lake Baiyangdian. Now it belongs to Xiong'an New Area.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Anzhou was a major base of operations for the criminal cartel known as The Hand. The Hand leader Madame Gao maintained a factory in Anzhou wherein they manufactured a synthetic form of heroin for transportation to the United States. Many of Madame Gao's drug trafficking operations were conducted through her inside resources at the Rand Corporation.
In 2002, Rand-Meachum founder Wendell Rand hired a plane to take his wife Heather and young son Danny over the Himalayas bound for Anzhou. The plane crashed in the mountains, and only Danny survived. He was taken in by monks from the mystical city of K'un-Lun.
Years later, the adult Danny Rand learned from a chemist named Radovan Bernivig that Madame Gao was based out of Anzhou. Danny brought Colleen Wing and Claire Temple with him to China and staged a raid on the factory. They succeeded in capturing Madame Gao and bringing her back to the U.S. though Colleen was poisoned during the affair. [1]
