Anytown, USA is a general term used to describe an otherwise unidentified location in sources of speculative fiction. These are locales that can be found in just about any region of the United States, and are characterized by monoculturalism, simplistic architectural styles and generic franchise business establishments such as Starbucks, Target, Home Depot, etc. "Anytown" environments appear often in anthology stories where the location in question is not particularly important, and thus remains accessible to the viewer or reader due to its generic characteristics. In older stories from the 1950s, "Anytown" locales were usually suburban neighborhoods with white families and boiler-plate business locations and community centers such as Anytown High School, the Anytown General Store, the Anytown Malt Shoppe, and so on, and so on.

Descriptive factors for Anycity range from financial districts with towering skyscrapers, to central business districts with strip-malls, strip-clubs, and glowing neon to urban squallar, such as is found in ghetto neighborhoods with low-income housing.
