The Anoat Sector is a fictional sector of space featured in the Star Wars multimedia franchise. It first appeared in the 1980 feature film Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.
Description[]
The Anoat Sector was a sector of space in the Greater Javin in the Outer Rim Territories. It included numerous travel routes including the Corellian Trade Spine.
The Hoth System was located in the Anoat Sector. This included the frozen planet of Hoth, which played a key role in the Galactic Civil War as this was a base of operations for the Alliance to Restore the Republic. The Battle of Hoth signaled one of the first major defeats of the Rebel Alliance against the First Galactic Empire.
Following the battle, the crew of the Millennium Falcon dodged Imperial Star Destroyers and TIE bombers by flying through the Anoat Sector. Pilot Han Solo made a daring escape by flying into the Hoth Asteroid Belt, knowing that his pursuers would not be able to navigate the treacherous terrain as efficiently. The Bespin System was located in the Anoat Sector, which distinguished itself for its Tibanna gas mining facilities such as the one found in Cloud City on the planet Bespin.
The Planet Miser is also located in the Anoat Sector, which is populated by communities of Ugnaughts as well as flying parasites known as Mynocks.
Exogorths were known to exist in this Anoat Sector. These were giant space slugs who were silicon based life forms that took to living inside the hollows of asteroids. One such exogorth inhabited a large asteroid inside the Hosth asteroid belt.
Gentes is a habitable planet in the Anoat System. It has a single sun, Anoat, and one moon, Belsus. Gentes rotates once on its axis every twenty-two hours, and a standard year in the Anoat System is two-hundred days. It is a habitable planet, though special respiration supplements may be required for some species in order to breathe in the atmosphere. Gentes is the home planet of the Ugnaught race.
