Annabelle is the name attributed to a child's toy. In the real world, Annabelle was a Raggedy Ann doll, which was visually designed by Johnny Gruelle for his series of illustrated books in 1918. The doll itself was first created in 1915. In the Conjuring film series, Annabelle is not a Raggedy Ann doll, but a unique porcelain doll crafted by Samuel Mullins. The doll became the focus of demonic infestation by the demon Malthus, and has had adverse affects on the lives of all those who came into contact with it.
