Animate object is a super-power. It can be developed as an ability that someone is born with, or they may develop it as a side-effect of external stimuli. It can also be developed as a magical ability. The power allows the user to animate what would otherwise be inanimate objects. For example, an anthropomorphic mouse dressed as a wizard can make a bunch of broomsticks spring to life and do his chores for him.
Animate image is a sub-application of animate object. Those gifted with this power can take a two dimensional image and manifest a three dimensional likeness from it. This is a power possessed by the Straw Man in Marvel Comics, who can create scarecrow effigies from painting.
