- Spike's line, "Sorry love, I don't speak Chinese," is a call back to the "Fool for Love" episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, wherein Spike said these exact words to Xin Rong during the Boxer Rebellion flashback right before he killed her.
- In one scene, Andrew Wells says "Yoda knows who" rather than the traditional "God knows who". This is a reference to Yoda, who is an alien Jedi Master and instructor from the Star Wars multimedia franchise.
