"Unholy Night" is the eighth episode of season two of the American television series American Horror Story and the twentieth episode of the series overall. It was directed by Michael Lehmann and written by James Wong. It first aired on the FX Network on Wednesday, December 5th, 2012 at 10:00 pm. In this episode, a murderous Santa Claus named Leigh Emerson is admitted to Briarcliff Manor after having killed a local family after losing his "Christmas spirit". Sister Mary Eunice decides to decorate the common room for Christmas and has the patients help with Christmas Tree ornaments. Lana Winters and Kit Walker finally get the upper hand on Doctor Thredson and chain him up. Kit needs him alive however to prove his innocence. Doctor Arden prepares to dispose of Grace Bertrand's body, but has a shocking visitation.
