Season Nine of the seasonal anthology television series American Horror Story was billed under the title heading of "1984". The season aired on the FX Network, and ran for ten episodes beginning on September 18th, 2019. The title of the season is taken from the year 1984, which is when the majority of the story takes place. "1984" pays homage to classic films of the slasher subgenre of horror, and was inspired by notable franchises such as Friday the 13th, Sleepaway Camp, and Halloween. The premise of the show involves a character named Margaret Booth, who is allegedly the only survivor of a mass murder committed by Benjamin Richter, aka "Mr. Jingles", at Camp Redwood in 1970. Now, fourteen years later, Margaret attempts to re-open the camp site and hires several L.A. youths as camp counselors. Mr. Jingles breaks out of a sanitarium and makes his way back to Camp Redwood to finish what he started, but he's not the only psychopathic killer on the loose; Real-world satanist and murderer Richard Ramirez is also active at this time. After failing to kill a woman named Brooke Thompson during a home invasion, he follows her to Camp Redwood looking to finish her off.

Notes & Trivia[]
- American Horror Story was created by Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy and produced by 20th Century Fox Television. The series is unique from other such programs in that each season is a self-contained storyline with a different cast of characters and actors, though many cast members are recycled as different characters from season to season.
