The story was written & edited by Stan Lee with artwork by Steve Ditko, who also co-plotted the story. It was lettered by Artie Simek. - The character of Spider-Man was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko. He first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 in August, 1962 in a story titled "Spider-Man!" The character has since gone on to become one of the most well-known and enduring super-heroes of all time, having appeared in numerous comic book titles, as well as feature films, animated projects and video games.
- The tagline to this issue is "The Final Chapter".
- Spider-Man reflects on the death of his uncle, Ben Parker. Ben Parker was killed by an unidentified burglar in Amazing Fantasy #15.
- Peter Parker compares J. Jonah Jameson to Scrooge. Ebenezer Scrooge is the main character from Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. A famous pastiche of the character is Scrooge McDuck, as seen in animated films and shorts produced by Walt Disney Productions.
- The scene of Peter Parker's panic attack as he is being crushed by debris is paid homage to in the 2017 film Spider-Man: Homecoming.
- May Parker's illness originated when Peter Parker gave her a blood transfusion using his own blood. This took place back in Amazing Spider-Man #10.
- This is the first, and to date, only known appearance of Charlie, who is a police officer.
- Curt Connors appears in human form only in this issue. He does not appear as The Lizard.
