"The Assassin Nation Plot (Part 1): License Invoked" is the title to the 320th issue of the first Amazing Spider-Man ongoing comic book series published by Marvel Comics. The story was written by David Michelinie with artwork and inks by Todd McFarlane. McFarlane also rendered the cover art illustration to this issue. It was colored by Bob Sharen & Gregory Wright and lettered by Rick Parker. The story was edited by Jim Salicrup with Glenn Herdling as assistant editor. - The character of Spider-Man was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko. He first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 in August, 1962 in a story titled "Spider-Man!" The character has since gone on to become one of the most well-known and enduring super-heroes of all time, having appeared in numerous comic book titles, as well as feature films, animated projects and video games.
- This is the third appearance of Carlton Drake and the Life Foundation. Spider-Man last tangled with them at their New Jersey compound back in Amazing Spider-Man #298 and Amazing Spider-Man #299.
- Peter Parker makes reference to Donald Trump in this issue. Trump is a businessman and wealthy hotelier who later becomes President of the United States in 2016.
- Pat Sullivan's comic strip character, Felix the Cat, can be seen in a trash can on the cover to this issue.
