Almen-Ta is a fictional ruler and a minor antagonist featured in the Hammer Horror film series. He was referenced, but did not make an actual appearance in the 1967 film The Mummy's Shroud.
Biography[]
Almen-Ta was a member of Egyptian royalty in Ancient Egypt some two-thousand years before the common era. common era. He was the younger brother of the Pharaoh, Men-Ta. Men-Ta and his wife bore a son, whom they named Kah-to-Bey. When Kah-to-Bey was an adolescent, Men-Ta named him as his heir. This angered Almen-Ta, who foresaw himself as the next Pharaoh. This led to a major campagn between the soldiers of Almen-Ta and the royal guardians of the Pharaoh. When Almen-Ta's forces raided Men-Ta's camp, the Pharaoh instructed his most loyal slave, Prem, to take the Prince into safety. The Pharaoh was murdered, but Prem did as instructed and took Kah-to-Bey away. With the true heir in hiding, Almen-Ta rose to become ruler of Egypt. He was later dethroned for his treachery, but by this point in time, Kah-to-Bey had already died.
