Two bank robbers named Benjamin "Bennie" Pollack and his girlfriend Claire Weiss acquirred a piece of alien technology left behind from the Battle of New York. Pollack was able to get the Chitauri weapon operating again and they used it to knock over a string of banks across the country. As with their previous heists, they came to a bank in Allentown and Bennie used the weapon to blow open the safe vault, allowing Claire the chance to grab the money. S.H.I.E.L.D. special agent Jasper Sitwell was assigned to retrieve the item and neutralize the fugitives and tracked them down to a motel room in South Florida. [1]
