Bounty hunter Jonah Hex rides into the town of Paradise Corners with two members of The Raiders in tow. After collecting a bounty of $200.00, he learns that the rest of the gang are at large, and nearby. Word of Jonah's presence reaches around town, but Big Jim - leader of The Raiders is unimpressed. Jim's second lieutenant, Cody, goes out to fetch water from a well and runs into Jonah, who guns him down with a single shot. Big Jim hears the shot, and comes out shooting, but he only hits a felled tree that happens to resemble a person. Big Jim hightails it into the night, and Jonah pursues him for several hours. When he catches up to him, Big Jim takes a farmgirl hostage, forcing Jonah to drop his guns. But Jonah has another trick up his sleeve... or rather, his shirt. He pulls a knife that he had sheathed in the back of his shirt and hurls it at Big Jim, striking him in the back. When Jonah brings the bounties back to town, he asks the town's leader to give his money to the farmgirl. As he leaves Paradise Corners, he runs into the farmgirl, who brandishes a rifle at him. She hates the fact that her young son now regards Jonah as something of a hero, and wants nothing to do with him, or his money. Hex leaves Paradise Corners, but not before shattering the sign marking the town with his bare hands.
